m5a97 r2.0 problem - keyboard freeze

The pc did work for about an hour after win8.1 install then froze and I started getting this problem-

The pc goes to the splash screen then immediately says that the bios does not support this boot device and says press ok to continue. however, the keyboard and mouse wont respond. for a few times it said that it could not find the drives. Oh and ive tried all the usb spots for the mouse/ keyboard

-ballistics 8gb 1600 ram
-msi 280
-amd 6300
-asus m5a97 r2.0

oh and I get one long beep from the mb when i power it on.

Is it only one long beep? or is it one long followed by two short?

Sometimes one long beep can also mean that something isn't seated properly, try reseating the processor and the memory, while also checking all of your connectors and then reboot.

yeah i double checked everything and nothing changed. The memok led flashes 2 times everytime i turn it on and i checked the mb doesnt support the ballistics memory could that be it?

More than likely, try booting with just one stick in the blue slot, if that doesn't work try the other. Normally one long beep on that motherboard is from a memory problem. You can fine tune the memory to work with most motherboards, but if you can't use your mouse or anything you might have a problem that you might need to send the ram in for a difference pair. Do you have a ps2 keyboard? Also are you plugging the keyboard into a usb2 or usb3 port

ive tried usb 2 and 3 ports and im trying the memory stick now

I tried using one stick and i came up with the same problem.

Yeah you are probably going to need to send the ram back and get another set that will work with the board sorry,

Well i went back. Half way through the night i tried ram from another computer and it still didnt work so I made a verdict to exchange the motherboard as I thought it was dead. And it was an open box buy from Microcenter ($20) so I went back and they exchanged it for a brand new one and I came back put it in and it solved the problem.

Yeah you should of said something about it being an open box deal, that would of made solving the problem a lot easier to solve
