M5A97Pro+FX8320(OR Sempron145) with 8GB Vengeance 1600Mhz RAM

I recently put together a new build, before I can install my FX8350 I have to update the BIOS with a Sempron145. However, when I turn on my PC, the DRAM LED comes on, it recognises the RAM as being installed(No beeps), but when I press the memOK button it can't find a suitable setting for the RAM to boot on.

Could the RAM be broken? Or does the motherboard/CPU not support this memory(It's 1x8GB btw).?

Have you tried to manually set the RAM bus to 1333 under the current BIOS?

If you have a choice to, try setting the ram to 1066. this will depend on the bios and ram.

Can't get into the BIOS, the RAM needs to work first.

Is it more likely that the RAM is the problem, or the motherboard?

Have you tried putting another 1066/1333mhz RAM stick?

Ram is my guess as I have serious questions on IF that CPU can handle 8GB on one stick. Keep in mind that the memory controllers are on the CPU now, this includes the AM3 socket CPU's.

I don't have any other DDR3 RAM sticks at hand unfortunately.

according to this that CPU can handle up to 1333Mhz Ram but no info on how many GB/channel.

Maybe you know someone you snag a stick from? Ram prices have sky rocketed so to buy one now requires a little commitment.

I'll see if anyone nearby can lend me some, do you think a 1866Mhz 4GB stick will boot? I presume the memOK will clock the RAM down fine.

It should as the speeds go 1333 1600 1866 In that order.
