Had a beast of a time trying to get this new mobo to work when I installed it 2 years ago - turns out the board was bad.

Now I do something as simple as removing an old hard drive to install a new one. Guess what? No POST... again.

Green light on the MOBO indicating power comes on. Power button presses and only after the PSU has been turned off and back on, do I even get a 1/2 second of light come off the CPU and then... dead. Nothing. No power, no signs of life, no lights, nothing.

If I don't unplug the PSU and turn it off, the power literally does nothing at all.

I've had it past HERE with this damned thing! There was nothing done to any of the internal components to cause this, yet here I am again, in the same boat I was 2 years ago.

Before I tear it apart piece by piece, are there any easier suggestions? Only thing I can think of would be a short between the case and the board but... again, I didn't touch the damned thing!

Solution
Thanks for the replies. I got it back up and running.

Static out here in dry country is the bane of my existence. Turned out to have built up a charge in one/some of the jumpers. Shorted them with a screwdriver and came right back on, power button works and all now.
