History: I built my computer approximately three years ago with the exception of the GPU which has been the only upgrade (bought a little over a year ago). Very first startup went off w/o a hitch and I experienced no problems for a long time. Around this time last year the issues began. If I restarted the computer it would hang on the BIOS splash and not let me access BIOS and the Boot device LED remained on (red). I was able to bypass this by resetting my CMOS, but this 'fix' was not consistent. Upon resetting it, it would go past the splash and display "Looking for boot devices: No devices found" and then hang on that screen. Then seemingly at random it would eventually go past the splash screen and prompt me to hit F1 to reset my BIOS settings.
This problem continued for about 6 months, in which I was afraid to power down my computer in fear I'd be stuck again. I performed a system wipe/OS reinstall and the problems seemed to stop and for the past 3-4 months I've freely been able to power down/restart with no issues.
Then again the other day I woke up to find the PC had restarted and was hung on the Asus splash screen again. The normal trial+error method I was using before doesn't seem to be working . Where generally I would reset the CMOS, wait a while, turn it on, and repeat until it eventually cooperated, I can't get past the Searching for boot devices: No devices found screen. Also it may be worth noting that I can only get to this screen (past the splash) directly after resetting using the jumper. Every successive restart after that will freeze on splash screen.

Today I removed the Mobo and components from the case and attempted to diagnose it with just 1 stick of memory and GPU connected and these are the results:
- with no USB peripherals or DVI attached: 1 beep.
- Just video attached: 1 beep, see ASUS splash for a moment then to black screen.
- w/ USB Keyb attached (no mouse): ASUS splash, followed by black screen and several very fast beeps for 4-5 sec.
- w/ Mouse attached (with OR without keyb attached): Hang on splash, no beeps.
-If I reset the CMOS w/ jumper, it will go splash > no devices found > black screen, and no beeps at all. Upon the next restart I will get splash > black screen with 1 beep.

I'm stumped, it seems possessed. I want to say its the Mobo as I've read of many others having similar issues with this model. I'm obviously outside of the RMA window but would appreciate 2nd opinions before I purchase anything. Unfortunately I don't have access to other hardware to isolate and test my other components. If my somewhat cursory description is confusing please ask me to clarify. Thank you in advance for any help.

Solution
Fire off an email to Asus with your config, issues and solution. If you are lucky, they might use you as a test pilot on future beta BIOS releases.

There are some great deals out there for when (or if) you want to try an SLI with your GTX 760. Some good looking prices on the new FX-83xxE processors, too.

Thanks for the confirmation.
Is it not unheard of for a mobo to intermittently work? It just seems really freakish and incosistent the way it's been acting.

I only get a single post beep if I have no peripherals including monitor attached. If I plug in keyboard/monitor/mouse it will hang at splash screen but no beep. I can't even get it to replicate that beep pattern again but it was not for memory. It was upwards of 10+ very fast beeping.
