Ok guys I spent the last hour reading all the different threads about RAM compatibility for the ASUS M5A99X EVO.

and I am even more confused. I am putting together a DAW build with the following components.

FX 8350
ASUS M5A99X EVO
CM 212 EVO (cooler)

I am looking to max out my memory at 32GB (I know it is excessive)

I am fine with running the RAM at stock speeds of 1600 or 1866. Can anyone recommend some kits that are preferably low profile and wont break the bank?

Thanks,

Here is a nice kit on special

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231561&cm_re=gskill_32gb-_-20-231-561-_-Product

DDR3-1866 is a good match for that CPU, make sure to configure settings in BIOS to run at full speed

Let us know if you need help.

Hmmmm... So did he ever get it running at 1866??

according to that Matrix I would have to run it at 1600...

care to chime in GSKILL Rep??

A lot will depend on your individual CPU, and it's individual MC (memory controller), some can, others can't run 32GB of 1866 from what I've seen. The BIOS's have, and are getting better, and they've added their own spins to using DOCP to set the DRAM up for you. i.e. they will often loosen the timings when going through DOCP, another option would be to to manually set up if comfortable in the BIOS and with timings. You may need a slight OC on the CPU and increases of DRAM and CPU/NB (your MC voltage). Hopefully DOCP can set them up for you and the Asus BIOS(s) are about the best in the AM3+ mobos. With the current pricing on DRAM I'd say the 1866 is worth a shot (if bought as a single set of 32GB, if you try and mix a pair of sets it may be harder as there's no guarantee the sets will play nice. I prefer the GSkill Snipers and RipJaws X on AMD

The special is $30 off, so it's cheaper than paying for DDR3-1333. You have the option to run it at DDR3-1333, DDR3-1600, and DDR3-1866. It will require some tweaks to get the CPU memory controller stable, and that's something we can help you with. In any case, you saved money and will have 32GB working fast and smooth in your computer.

^^ Thanks...

Just curious at what speed can I run this without any tweaks?
