I have an older Macpro 1.1 built in 2007. I ordered the ATI 5770 Radeon Upgrade kit from Apple. Got the card installed, but there is no power, the fan is not on. First, the display was not receiving any signal. I reinstalled it and this time the computer would not start. It just made a noise and flash of light for a second making you think it would start then dies. I put the old card back in and it works fine. I’ve read in a few posts here about PCIe 2.0 but I’m told it is backwards compatible. My thought is if the fan on the new card does come on then there must be something defective in the card and should be returned. The card is definitely speced for my model machine. I checked it out. No drivers are necessary in OS X.
