Hi,
so here's the deal, I told 3 of my friend's my Wi-Fi password but there's this one dude who uses it the most and sometimes downloads games of it. He watches 1080p videos on it, which inturn reduces my bandwidth. I am limited to 120 GB 16 mbps which later drops to a REALLY low speed after 120 GB so I thought of using MAC filter because I don't want to straight-away go and tell him not to use my Wi-Fi.

So in the DHCP clients I saw his MAC address, took his phone once and saw it and put it in the MAC filtering thing. Later that day, I saw he was still able to use my Wi-Fi. anybody has any idea why this is happening?
Here's a pic of the settings of MAC adress: http://imgur.com/lnOn753
(I do not know why I used paint on my mac adress o.o)

P.S- I only want HIS MAC adress blocked. I do not want to use the option which says 'deny all users except the one in the list'.

He's going to figure it out when he doesn't have internet you know? You have a QOS tab, you could just throttle his connection?

What route do you have, DIR-655 ? On that one the MAC filter is under Advanced, then Network Filter, you should see MAC filtering there. Remember you will need to add the MAC address of every machine you do want to enable there.

Also remember he still has the password, he can easily just change his MAC address to match say your PC, and your PC would no longer be able to connect if he connected first. MAC addresses are another layer of security, but they can be easily bypassed, as a MAC address is easy to change.

OpenDNS has a free option which you could use on the router, and filter out unwanted things. If...

OpenDNS has a free option which you could use on the router, and filter out unwanted things. If you are letting friends use it anyways, I would be doing this for sure. This way you could at least block out things that are very likely to be illegal.
