Mac Laptop Pc desktop or Just all PC?

Okay so school is starting soon again and my laptop is dead (7 years strong hp) I also have a gaming desktop which is PC of course that can handle everything i throw at it. I am studying computer engineering in school and was wondering if I get a Mac switching between my macbook and my desktop would be troublesome because of compatibility issues or has mac and pc gotten rid of that problem entirely. Or should i jsut get a pc laptop and not even have to worry about it

Since you have a PC based desktop, from a costs standpoint it makes sense to stay with a PC-based laptop instead of a Mac.

There are plenty of new as well as refurbished laptops on sale these days. Good luck!

See I was thinking mac because its very mobile and the battery life is crazy good pcs arent normally like that and im getting $1k scholarship and i got some of my own money for a new laptop

Macs are great computer, no doubt! And you have your heart set on it. Go for it!

I have a friend who has both a Mac as well as a Dell laptop. He is very happy with his Mac, and is gifting me the Dell 630.

Since you really want a Mac, go for it!

Check with your school and make sure they can open documents from Apple products. It shouldn't be an issue these days, but I've been in classes where instructors get angry because they get files they can't open from students using Apple computers. Like I said, I'd have a hard time seeing that happen now, but you never know. Something worth checking on. If there isn't issue, just get the Mac. Its worth it.

I am an engineering student with a Macbook and a PC I built. I have OfficeMac for documents and dropbox for sharing everything seemlessly. I also put Windows 7 on the boot camp partition of my macbook to run solidworks and AutoCAD. I can recommend this setup. However, if I was to choose my laptop again, I would probably go for the beastiest ASUS I could find.

This wasn't always the case but there are plenty of Windows laptops now that look and feel like Macbooks. (it seems like everyone is trying to imitate Apple) The OS should be the deciding factor though. Be aware you lose a lot of functionality if you switch to a Mac, but you'll get a more comfortable experience. (so a lot of people say)
