Question Mac Mini software update Issue

I recently updated my Mac Mini to Monterey version 12.1 and it not only took an hour and a half to complete, but almost every system and application was sluggish and barely responsive. I shut down the computer with the shutdown option (Not manually), waited for 20 min and turned it back on. It still took a long time for login to commence and just as long to turn on System Preferences. Right now, the computer runs smoothly, but I would like to know if there will be any ongoing problems. If so, what should I do at my end?
