[SOLVED] Mac OS red,yellow and green dots apps/their features are not responding

Hello everyone! My girlfriend bought a new Mac few months ago and now all of sudden some apps, red, yellow, green dots, tabs in apps (e.g. search, can't click to type in it) are not responding and can only be closed by command+q/force closing (sometimes even that doesnt work)... what could be the issue? Please help!

Sometimes computers can become bogged down or run slowly if left on for very extended periods of time. Have you tried restarting your Mac or shutting it down for a bit and turning it back on ?
