I bought a "dead/dropped in transit" system a week back. I got around to scrapping it but before I did I thought just to test to for the hell of it. It worked. and booted. with no problems.

It is a A1037 running Mac OS X 10.4.0. I would like to upgrade it to any newer OS like OS X lion or higher. I have 2 other systems running Mac Sierra and the other Mac OS X Lion. Is there anyway I could upgrade the system to a new OS. The old Mac is password locked so I cannot update it either. I have spare hard drives for use if that is helpful.

Thanks

I purchased a bootable leopard 10.5 disk for 4.99. Should arrive friday. I will update you then.

Hi,
Since then I have got another system. A 2.5Ghz G5 with 7GB of RAM.

It works fine. I put the Boot dvd in the system and it shows up on the system when the current mac os boots up. I plug in my new HDD for the system. I boot up the system and it only shows the ? Folder icon. What could be the problem here?
