So recently, I got my hands on a Powerbook g4 (for free of course, or I wouldn't go through all this trouble.) But, it doesn't have an OS... Now I'm pretty computer savvy, I've built my share of PCs. But I'm stumped. I would like to install some form of OS X, but Linux or Ubuntu would be nice as well. I also need to install it from a flash drive. Could someone give me a link to a bootable ISO and/or instructions on how to boot from aforementioned flash drive? Any help would be appreciated.

Solution

No, no, no. Snow Leopard requires an Intel processor.

You need OS X 10.5 or earlier. eBay is a good source, but make sure that you get either a retail version or a disk intended for your particular model. Google "PPC Linux" for alternatives. I don't believe that you can boot from a USB drive on these machines, so you'll need to use the optical drive.
