I acquired a 2019 Macbook Pro 15" with a broken display recently(you cannot see anything at all on the screen). I've tried connecting to an external display with no luck. So, I ended up booting up this Mac via 'Target Disk Mode' on another Mac. When it pops up, it asks for the keychain password(no idea what it is, the owner has passed away). Trying to simply "Erase" the drive fails every single time. Any other option asks for the keychain password(even to delete/add a partition). I've tried using Disk Utility both in normal bootup operation as well as from Recovery Mode with no luck.

Is there a way to use Terminal's "resetpassword" command(or similar) to reset the password on the external disk(via Target Disk Mode)? Anything else that might work?

thanks

[EDIT] I also tried using the "diskutil unmountdisk force" command. It successfully unmounted the disk, but still kept failing everytime I tried to Erase or Partition the drive.

Contact Apple with proof of ownership. They may be able to unlock it.

Even if there is a workaround. It’s against for rules to help bypass any password problems.
