Question MacBook Air 2014 - Orange light on charger, won't power on

A friend of mine brought a MacBook Air 2014 13" to me because it wouldn't power on. The indicator light on the charger stays orange but it'll never turn green. I tried disconnecting the battery, a different charger, removing the SSD, SMC reset, and still nothing. I ordered a new battery and will try that later tonight but if it's anything else it's beyond my expertise. lol Any suggestions?

Let us know if the new battery solved the problem
