so i've had about 3 hdd caddy's from 2 sellers
1 from local country and 1 from china (they look the exact same tho...)
but once installed the hdd spins up but doesnt show up at all in disk utility
i've tried multiple hdd's and still not working..
the chinese ad even said it would work for a late 2007 macbook pro (i got a early 2008 but its the exact same ide connector)
what could be the cause of this annoying issue?

What size drive are you installing?
I could see anything over 2tb being an issue.

Also, have you tried attaching the drive to the normal HDD connector and seeing if it is detected there? (Just for a test)
Some manufacturers only allow optical drives in the drive bays. I don't know much about Macs to know if this is your issue but I do see the OWC does NOT sell a drivebay adpater for any 2008 macbooks.

the original cd drive works fine i'm trying to install 750gb hdd into it but it also happens with all old apple hard drives (80-120-160 and 320 gb original apple hard drives)
currently the system has a 500 gb ssd into the main drive bay
