Hi all, long time reader first time poster.

Have just completed upgrading my old computer, and have now hit a brick wall during the boot.

I have installed win 10, but after installing and it tries to boot and I’m hit with MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION

What I’m running:
Mobo: Asus H370-F strix
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws V 2666mhz (2x8)
CPU: i7 8700
PS: FSP Aurum PT 1200w
GPU: Asus Strix 1080ti
HDD: WD Black 2Tb
SSD: Scandisk (can’t remember the model)

What I’ve tried:
Boot with 16gb & 8gb (tried all slots with single)

Reseated everything, literally tore the pc back to an empty shell and started again

Updating the bios

Win 10 pro and win 10 home editions (USB)

What I can’t try: can’t try to boot from CD as I don’t have an optical drive.
Don’t have another SSD to try install on.
Don’t have any other sticks of ram.

Any ideas?

MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION could be a number of issues, so this error code doesn't do much to help. Your Motherboard isn't old enough to be a chipset driver interfering with the Windows Boot. The most common cause of issue is a software bug that could force the OS to think that one of your components are faulty. The most likely issue would be the SSD you have. I've never heard of that brand, seems somewhat cheesy, and if windows cannot figure out what it is, it could also prevent it from booting. I'd try installing it to the HDD and see if that fixes it before going any further.
