I have created a backup image & recovery media using macrium reflect. Can I recover from the image even if I don't have the macrium reflect software installed? recovery media & backup image enough to restore? or the software must be installed when I perform a recovery?

Yes you can.

There is nothing stopping you from booting the media you created to see if it boots into a recovery environment, if you did everything correctly it should.

If you've created the Rescue USB form the Macrium client, that is all you need.
You boot from that, tell it where the Image is, and what drive to apply that Image to.

Now would be a good time to test booting from that Rescue USB. Just to verify it actually works.
