I created my MR a few months ago and renew my clone every month.
MR is running from start. Does the Source image (C-drive master copy) keep constantly renewing when PC is live ?
I upgraded my PC from 1909 to 20H2 - will the MR Source image reflect this change ?

Solution
I do a monthly clone. Presumably the master photoshot is being updated all the time. so my previous clone will be replaced by the current C-drive copy.
If imaging is set to do a daily run, it could be at a point of Windows fault and will replace the previous good image. What use is it then to restore the fault ?
That is the point of doing a series of Images, not a full Clone every day or month.

You can save a rolling set of Images, a Full and then a series of Incremental or Differential, save it once a day.
Then, you can go back in time and recreate the system as it was before the BadThing happened.

A 'clone' is for use right now, to change to a different drive.
Images are for backups over time.

I can recover any of my drives...
If you have it set up to do imaging every day it’s certainly can

Well, for one thing, when you set up a backup image with Macrium it keeps SETS of backup images. I do one full and incremental after, and have it keep the last 14 sets of backups. You can configure it to more if you choose. that way, you have a plethora of restore images, not just one. so if you had a windows fault in one, just pick a different one.

it manages the sets too so you need not bother with anything, 100% hands off from user perspective after setting up the schedule. If it needs to consolidate incremental backups it's all automatic.

I have restored backups as tests and it all works perfectly.

I have based my backup plan off of @USAFRet advice in his Backup Plan post. It isn't exactly like his because I have one external usb enclosed HDD, not an entire NAS (some day, but my needs are pretty meager)

All my data is backed up as well and also in the cloud to ensure the 3-2-1 backup scenario

I can recover any of my drives individually, or the whole system, to the state it was on any day in the last month.
