Hi all, last saturday (12/07) I bought a new PC from parts:

- Intel Core i7 4770k 3.5GHz
- Asus Maximus VII Hero
- 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast 2400MHz
- Asus GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5
- Samsung 840 Evo SSD 250GB
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB
- Corsair CX750 750W
- Asus VG248QE 24" LED 3D 144Hz
- Mad Catz Strike 3
- Mad Catz Rat 5

My problem is that my PC has a hard time reconozer keyboard, I assembled PC and during Saturday and Sunday I had no problem, but Monday, when I start my PC, on my keyboard Num Lock light turns on but no backlight, and displays a message that the BIOS does not detect keyboard, after the windows starts and nothing... that's when I try to unplug and plug the USB keyborad, and restart my PC, finally, after several attempts, the backlight turns on and keyborad it works.

This bullshit only happens to me when I turned off the PC for several hours, however when it works, if I turn off and turn on the PC again soon do not have that problem.

You think that is keyboard problem, or my PC?

Please help me... :'(

BTW nice build. Great info but, what windows are you using? Links also help for a faster response. I'm pretty sure that it isn't a build issue(except maybe the BIOS might need to be updated )although you can try different USB ports. I always suggest rear ports coming directly from the the mobo. It could be the USB port is borked(is sketchy or bad) or the connections aren't seated well. With new build I like to seat and unseat the components and cables a few times to make sure there isn't a problem.

It could be a a windows issue. But I don't believe so. It could be the keyboard software. It could be the keyboard is just bad.

What I would do if you have access to another USB keyboard(personally I like PS/2 keyboards) is plug that into the same port and see if you have the same problem. IF you have the same problem it could be a bad USB port. IF you don't then it might be a driver issue or less likely a BIOS issue. OR it could be that the keyboard is just malfunctioning.

Best thing with new builds is start from the bottom and up to determine problems.

PS: When you say "turn off" is that sleep mode or truly turned it off. Windows sometimes does some weird things when you wake it up from sleep mode.

Be seeing you, the Prisoner...

Hi Prisoner! I've solved the problem, I also answer your questions, I have the Windows 8.1, and I un updating the BIOS to the latest version of ASUS, I tried all the USB ports of the mobo but nothing.

Just went to the store and changed the keyboard Mad Catz STRIKE 3 for a Steelseries APEX, and no problem!

So really what I think is that the former keyboard worked but the same was not too compatible with Windows 8.1, because I tried it on the old PC with Windows 7 and it worked fine.

Also, thank you very much!
