Thanks for the response.
I guess what I really want to know is there a Familiar I can find in the
game (other than just giving myself one from my editor). Like talking to an
animal etc. I have found them with a mage using the 'Find Familiar' spell
but end up having to kill them off, if I can catch them. But are there any
running around the game that need a mage? There seem to be plenty of little
critters on the loose everywhere but...
Thank you

Find Familiar is the *only* way you get a familiar. Once you cast the
spell, he is automatically part of the party (green circle). You get a
15HP bonus to your main character and can control the critter to use
the various skills and spells your familiar has. The familiar type you
get depends on your alignment.

Be careful about getting a familiar killed though. You will loose 1
point of Con permanently as well as the 15HP. Typically you will want
your familiar safely stashed in your backpack. Just have your PC talk
with the little ah heck(select your character, click the 'chat' button,
click on the familiar), and tell him to get in your pack. He takes up
an inventory slot, but doesn't require the constant attention he would
otherwise.
