Magicka 2 controller

I'm thinking about playing Magicka 2 with my friend, because the game is unreal to beat when playing alone. I see that the buttons show up as Xbox buttons.
The question is - can I just connect a second keyboard or a controller that isn't an Xbox controller, like a regular PS2 (PlayStation) - like controller?

If needed, I can upload images, if that's possible to do on this forum.
