In a system with two HDD, I have a magnetic hdd of 1 TB - model TOSHIBA DT01ACA100, for data.

This disk (not the one with the system) while operating makes noises like sparks,
freezes often, and while the computer is properly working it makes sounds like recovering
from sleep-hibernation mode when something is stored on it.

The computer is becoming more slow.
This behavior lasts for more than a year. Some IT stuff told me that
the I should expect a system crash, but the PC is still working. I am worried.

What should I do?
I'm not an expert with computers.

Should I ask IT technicians to replace the disk and backup my data??

What do you recommend??

Solution
New noises?
Freezing?

That drive is on its way out.
Prepare for replacement.

Even if it isn't 'on its way out', prepare for replacement. Drives can die a lot faster than you think.
