Question Mail.app with Exchange 2013

My client is looking to upgrade exchange from 2007 to 2013, but I need to know if the Mac built in mail app will work with Exchange 2013. Their oldest version of OSX is 10.7.5 (Lion) and the newest version is OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks), and everything in between. I just need to if there will be any issued with Exchange 2013. If there will be the slightest issue with Exchange 2013, I can downgrade their Exchange upgrade to 2010 and my client is OK with that. But I just need to know what to be before I start the upgrade. I am new to Macs I have a test system on my desk but its old still running a G5 but I am learning my way around.

Any advice at all would be very appreciated.

Thank you so much that is what I needed to know. Do you or anyone by chance know which version of IOS will work with exchange 2013?

Does your client have office for mac? He could always use Outlook for mac.
