I've just created a second character on my account and to help get it
started I sent it some money and items using the ingame mail system. So far
only the mail with the money has been received, is there a limit on the
amount of mail that can be sent/received within a certain time period?

Money transfer is instantaneous, item transfer takes a while (30 mins?)
There is no limit on the amount of mail that can be sent, as far as I
know.

Mailed money transfers instantly.
Mailed items take 1 hour.

As a note you can get at least two pages of undread mail.

I've had as many as six pages, thanks to my constantly sending
green/blue drops and other items to my auction house-bound
Mage. Anyone know if there *is* a limit?

There is no "limit" in the sense that mail would be lost, but there is a
limit in terms of the amount of individual mails you can download at one
time, that being two pages worth. At that point you will need to read and
delete some mails in order to view the ones that are in the overflow area.
Once you have read them, you need to deselect the mail box and reselect it.
At this point you will be able to receive more letters dependant on how many
you deleted initially.

Xanex.....UndeadRogueazon, the mail in your overflow area is still ticking
away on the 30 day countdown timer to deletion though, that timer is not
suspended even if you don't download them.

I've had as much as 11 pages. But only the first 6 or so get shown. If you
want to get access to the hidden stuff, you have to clear out your inbox a
bit. I've never had a piece of mail sent to any character not get there.
