Question Main light switch must be on for computer

Why does my computer and litter robot not work correctly unless the main light switch is on? I have surges protectors on and I've tried every outlet in the room with the same results. Same thing with the litter robot in my bedroom.

Is there power to the outlets when the switch is off ?

Yes there is power, but the CPU flashes and sometimes the screen goes out for a minute. The litter robot will stop in mid cycle and either moves very slowly or stops and starts til the cycle is done. Right now I checked the litter robot's status (with light switch on) and it's green. I turned it off and it switched from green to yellow.

I would say this is a situation that a qualified electrician needs to look at. Nobody on a message board can look into the switch box, or the outlets. This requires someone have hands-on investigation.
