Hi

I want to buy a mainboard for hard disk repairing and recovery. I did some research and friend of mine said that some mainboard like
GA-890FXA-UD7
GA-MA790X-UD4P
DFI LANParty DK 790FXB-M3H5
are better in detection of damaged sata hard disk. according to him gigabyte mainboard with chipset 770 or 790 or 890 can detect some sata hard disk that other mainboard may not be able.
I want to know if this true? and if it is ,is there some newer mainboard for me?
thank you

Hi there Ebrahim_3,

Well, I would agree with Tradesman1. I don't thin that any of these could repair a failing drive.

Once a drive starts failing, you will need to replace it, as in most cases, you won't be able to fix it.

Just keep in mind that mechanical drives could just fail without a warning. This is why, you need to keep your most important data stored on at least two places.
Also, you can keep an eye on the drive's health status if you test it from time to time with a brand specific testing tool.
