Hi together,

I'm looking for a mainbiard, for the following card: ATI Radeon HD 7990 XT2
I would prefere to use one with PCI-E 3.0, but I heard, that AMD-CPUs are not able to support PCI-E 3.0. Is this correct? If yes, why can't thy support PCI-E 3.0?
I'm asking, because I don't want to buy an expensive Intel CPU, to use PCI-E 3.0...

Thank you in advence!

Don't worry about getting a PCI-e 3 board yet, the actual graphical difference between 2 and 3 is negligible with present cards. If you want to look into overclocking, then make sure you get a board that is good for it.

Also for a dual GPU cards there is no big difference between PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0?

Pick a MB that has the options, ports and functions that you want. PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 slots are nothing to worry or think about as of now.

Thank you!
Then I have to set down the resolution in GTA 5 a bit 😉 I thought I could play it with this card in Full HD with full details. What a pitty 😀

Set the video settings as high as your monitor's max settings. Anything higher is wasted because the monitor will only put so much regardless. You should have no problems. Unless you have a weak CPU.
