maintanice programs not working.

disk defragmenter, error check, system restore, does not work in my windows vista home premium 64 bit gateway 3100 series laptop. Can anyone tell me how to get them working? It says i have a corrupted partition and i don't know what to do? Can't afford to take it to professional, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the drive is bad. I'd get a new hard-drive and install a clean version of Windows on that. Hopefully you have backups of your data. If you do have backups, try doing a Repair setup of Windows on the existing drive, it may install OK and get things working. If you don't have backups, make some now.

Drive errors is not something you want to ignore or put off fixing, it's a good way to end up with a full disk crash and loss of your data.
