MAJOR FPS Hit When Recording

Hey guys,
So I recently made the jump to a predator x34 monitor. I primarily do gameplay videos for my channel, so I usually set my games up in a 1920x1080p window and just capture that. Now, recently, when I start recording that window, my FPS takes a major hit, even though I'm running a 980 ti and i7 6700k. I go from having 100 FPS to 20 and stay pegged there. Any ideas or recommendations? I'm using OBS and the x264 encoder. I've already tried NVENC with the same results. All help is appreciated.

What did you think would happen?

Try using shadowplay, that generally only has a ~10% hit, if not get a proper recorder like the hd60

What FPS and screen res are you recording at. These can both hit the PC hard if incorrectly configured.
