hey i'm having some real bad heat problems, i recently changed my mobo to a asus a7pro, but my system thinks i'm running a 800 athlon instead of a duron.
And through the asus probe program my cpu temp is like 52c on startup, and my system just crashed out at 63c.
I'm using ok cooling a have a system blower a fan under my floppy a cooler master on my cpu and a 300 watt psu.
Why is it getting so hot?
Is it the duron/athlon settings on my mobo?
thanx in advance

heat prob is most likey bad hs, or improperly mounted hs. I had the same misdetection problem with my a7v board under windows (bios recognised duron, all software saw athlon) until I updated bios to 1005, try the latest bios update.

Crackdaddy was getting warm, but dont go with the newest bios unless you need raid support. Go back to the 1003x distribution.. when the 1004x was released they added some coding and it makes the cpu run anywhere from 7-14 celcuis hotter. Try changin you bios back first before buying anything else.

yeah, i think it's cooled ok, it has a system blower by my graphic card [blowing out] and a fan mounted just by my cpu blowing in, i thought i should let it blow cool air onto the cpu fan, should i have it blowing out instead?
But at the moment the side of my case is off anyway, i was thinking about adding another fan just beneith my floppy, but my comp already sounds like a hover craft so i don't know. I have got another cpu fan on the way [it has a round yellow heatsink are thses any good?] and see if that makes a difference!
oh yeah and my cpu temp at the moment is 58/136 i'm running nothink in the back ground!

ok her is what i did with my cooler master take the cheap fan off, mounted a sunon 26 cfm fan blowing away from processor, then i took aluminum tape and covered the slots where the clip goes. then i covered the fins on the side about 1/2 to 5/8 of the way down from the fan like on the alpha coolers. almost all use some sort of ducting like this to mahe it pull air in at the bottom of the heatsink wher it is hottest
