so we recently changed our router as we have had the other one for a long time and never had any problems but decided to get a better newer one. my computer is the network admin and for the first 3 or 4 days my wired connection was perfectly fine and tbh slightly faster than before and the wireless connection on my laptop was fine too. then around 3 days ago my wired connection suddenly went half way through the evening. i first of all thought it was a cable problem so i moved my pc and tried to connect it with another cable to the router and nothing happened, i then connected the original cable to my laptop and the connection was fine so i ruled the cable out. i then went to network connections to see if i could reset the adapter and found the adaptor page empty. so i then when to my device manager and looked at my network drivers to find that it only had microsoft kernel debug network adaptor. i then ran a network trouble shooter and it told me that "windows could not detect a properly installed network adaptor. if you have a network adaptor, you will need to reinstall the driver" so i grabbed the disc for my motherboard tried to run that but it can up with a message saying "this version of xpress install doess not support win 98/ME. i am using the ethernet port on my motherboard
so now i am completely lost. any advice would be extremely helpful and i am completely willing to retrieve additional information if needed.
