After powering my BenQ GL2460HM monitor on, for a second when it boots it works perfectly. Then, most areas of the monitor go dim except for an area that’s brightly lit near the right side. Usually, power cycling the monitor repeats this issue, but on rare occasions it maintains its original brightness.

I used to be able to get the monitor to stay fully bright by deactivating and reactivating my graphics card driver, but this no longer works. Considering that the monitor is capable of full brightness for a second after being turned on, I am wondering if this is a software problem and not my monitor’s backlight dying.

Solution
If thats the case, I would recommend buying a new monitor, if you had this one for awhile and the warrenty has expired.
Just go ahead and buy a better monitor if you have the funds to do so.

I would buy one of these now, and wait atleast a month or so till my funds get up enough for another one.

This is what I use on my pc, also yes it does 1080p along with my evga gtx 1050 super clock edition.

I put my tv...
Ok check the nvidia control panel.
Adjust the contrast and brightness settings there.
Use your monitors internal settings to get the effect you are looking for.
The brightness is all the way up and adjusting settings in nvidia doesn't effect that some areas of my screen are brighter or darker than others.

Ok read some of the questions and answers from BQ themselves, follow their instructions and see what helps.

If that still does not help, reach out to them via through email and look at a time zone clock to see when they open up.

The last time I contacted them they just said outright that it's a dead backlight (which I'm not ruling out, either) and it would cost more to repair than buying a new monitor. Right now, I'm trying to see if there's any software I can use to keep this thing alive before pulling the trigger on a new display.

I put my tv settings under dark lighting, while fine tuning nvidia control panel to have vivid color.
Makes it pretty bad ass for ultra max setting gaming or streaming a movie or so.
