I know how to create images and make them act as cd or dvd. like as mentioned here http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/8000-45-faking-folder but that is not what I need.
There used to be a program i used for win 98 that faked a cd from a folder. that is what I need here. I have close to 15 gigs of drivers I use regularly and I would like to put them on a networked Win10 machine. Then I want to make the folder behave as a huge dvd with autorun capabilities. Then i will share the "dvd-drive" on the network.
This way when I load a new computer I can access the drive and search for drivers just like inserting a dvd or cd.
Anyone know what program I am referring to, and if there is a compatible version for Win7 OR Win10? or a way to edit the registry to do what I need?

The autorun element is likely where you'll come up against issues, and I'm not sure what that program may have been.

Out of curiousity, why don't you just share the folder on the drive? Or create an ISO from the driver files, mount that as a "dummy" DVD drive and share it that way? Again, you won't have the autorun capabilities, but not quite sure why you'd need that either.

I have several folders I want to acces that are in excess of 10 gigs each. One as a primary driver depot, another as a Windows update depot, etc. makes for a large (easily corrupt able) ISO. And also means taking up even more room. Also as I update the files I would constantly be updating new ISOs for what could be only a couple MB.
