Make sure the disk is not write protected

Hello,
My portable hard drive is telling me this when I attempt to create new folders but I've already unlocked for use. What's happening?!

Hi there & Welcome to Tom's Hardware!

What kind of a removable HDD to you have, and be more specific how you lock or unlock it for writing. Also have you recently moved it from one computer to another, like from a Win-XP to a Win-7 machine?

With the external HDD connected, go to Disk Management, and in the lower graphical area, list out what it says in the row for this drive, under both the Disk Status heading and Volume Status heading.

That way, someone will be able to figure this out.
