Hello, I have an old HP Deskjet F4280 that I was going to throw away, but I wanted to see what what inside of it before I did. I found a small motherboard, and that gave me an idea. I know that printers have a cpu and ram, so is it possible to make it into a computer? Maybe running windows 95? It might be a fun DIY project. Thanks! :)

most printer and fax machines have a one to two meg rom simm for the os. most of the os is a custom flash rom from the vendor. most of the rom is set up for that printer fuctions and self tests. there not sata or pci port or bridge chips. if your looking to build a small pc look a the nuc mb that are out there.
