This is an out there question, but this forum is probably some what knowledgeable in this.
I am making a room air filter. Should I have the fan pull air through the filter or push air through the filter?
I am thinking I should use a pull design.

In most such cases the thing that MOVES the air - a fan and MOTOR - is cooled by that same air flow. As far as air FLOW is concerned, some fan designs do work better for push, some better for pull, and some don't really care. BUT if you want the MOTOR to be coooled by CLEAN air to avoid dust build-up on / in it, then that motor should be on the inside of the filter - a "pull" arrangement.

Pull lets any dust and particles gather on the actual filter.
Push, and a lot of that ends up on the fan.

"Should" depends on what you're trying to do, and the overall design.
