Hey everyone.. Ive been one of does ghost user's for yrs..this is the first time ive decided to make the Jump and ask the community for some help.....im making the jump from AMD to intel and i have no idea what direction to go..at the moment i have a fx 8320 oc to 4.4 and it has served me well.. Im the process of building a new pc and thinking about going intel and my question is my budget is about 200 for a processor and ebay has 2600k for around $175 and i5 3570k for the same price.. I had my eyes on some 4670k but i took too long to pull the trigger and someone got them both so now i don't know what get.........oh and btw i have 2 gtx 780 should i keep them and get a gtx 970 or is it not worth... All i do is mainly game i only okay mmorpg i don't play stuff like GTA or first person shooters or crysis etc.. Mainly stuff like tera online, WOW,and looking to get into black desert

Current rig:
Fx 8320
Gtx 780 sli

Solution
The i5-6500 should be fine at stock speed. I understand that the FX CPUs need OC to keep up with graphics cards sometimes, but this i5 would be a lot faster than an FX if we are talking about single core performance. Most Intel Core i5s do not bottleneck current-gen graphics cards, so OC is only necessary if you have an older chip.
For $200 USD you can get a Skylake i5-6500. If you want to overclock, then poking around on eBay might uncover some deals for unlocked processors.

I believe the GTX 780 has similar performance to a GTX 970, so two 780s should be better than a single 970. The only case where I would upgrade to a 970 from two 780s is if I find the 3GB VRAM to be too limiting. But then again it's only .5 GB more than the 780. 😛

But if you enjoy overclocking, you can still find an unlocked Intel CPU like a 3570K on eBay for under $200. Just keep in mind that you will need a "Z" motherboard to overclock Intel CPUs.

Im just trying to find that middle ground between old and new.. I don't like dishing out all that money for something new when i know I'll never push it to its full potential ive seen alot of cheap 2600k 3570k and Amazon has 4670k i just dont know witch its best since this is my first ever intel cpu..

If you're comparing those 3 I would pick the most recent one which is the 4670K. It should be roughly the same performance as a 6500 and you could probably exceed that by overclocking it. Just remember to get a good motherboard for overclocking.
