Hello,
I cant figure out how to lighten up my screen it just started going dark as I was typing

You should be able to brighten the screen within your graphics card drivers.

one other thing .. you may either have a backlight going out ( pending on the age of your system ) or the power supply is giving up the ghost ( computer thinking its on battery power when its not... ( my 2 cents plus tax..)
