Many connections do not work without VPN

Without my VPN on, I cannot connect to any online games, seed torrents or contact support chat on various websites. Once I turn my VPN on, everything runs, but slowly. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this problem?

could be some sort of redirection is occuring for certain traffic or ports. what i would do is check for this on your router.

Thank you for your answer, I plugged my IP address into my browser, where do I go from here to check ports/traffic?

i do not know, it is different for different brands of router, just look around and see what you can find without changing settings, it will most likely be hidden in some advanced settings area.

Nothing in the router indicated any issue. I'm stumped.

if you have a seperate modem or know your internet connection settings if it is a combined modem router try factory resetting the router.
