Marantz CD5000 - full working order, save for intemittent problem with drawer loading switch, economical fix?

Much loved Marantz CD5000, fully functional if the loading drawer decides to close but more often than not it opens then in response to close/play displays 'Reading' when there's nothing to read because the drawer hasn't closed. Neither a gentle nudge nor full push closure makes any difference.

Have been advised this is probably a simple problem with the drawer loading switch. How do I fix this economically? Does it have to go to a hi fi specialist (few and far between in these days of disposeabilty) or is it a universal part any computer technician should be able to fit?!

Sounds like it could be the switch as you say but could also be a belt. No universal parts for this kind of repair. A local guy should be able to fix it for you. If you contact Marantz they could suggest the closest service center. I have used United Radio in Syracuse NY and recommend them highly. The are authorized and have all the parts on hand.
