Mario Tour Advance Manual Swing Mode?

I'm really enjoying Mario Tour Advance (made it to the third course
so far), but I really want to use manual swing mode. I can't figure
out how to switch from auto mode. The manual describes both modes,
but if it explains how to change, it's not in the same part of the
booklet.

I feel kind of lame for having to ask this here, but it's been a
few days, and I'm getting a little annoyed.

Thanks,

Nick

There's no need to change. It's automatic. When you swing and the swing
meter goes up, hit b instead of a. That puts it in manual mode for that
swing.
Then you'll have to hit either a or b again when the swing meter goes back.
Try it in practice mode.

Yep, like Bill says, hit A to start your swing, then B to set the power
and switch to manual swing. Then press A or B to set hook/slice. Also,
when setting hook and slice you can also set spin. Double tap A for
topspin, double tap B for backspin. AB for super topspin, and BA for
super backspin.

I can't believe I didn't figure out how to go to manual mode on my
own. :^) Manual mode adds so much depth to the game, it's like night
and day.

Brilliant game.
