Has anyone seen drivers for this?

I have an Asus Rampage III Formula mobo and would like to install Windows 8 without it failing (while using RAID-0 SSD's, obviously using one hard drive works).

Windows 8 should have native support for that device but you should never put SSDs on an add-in controller, put them on the Intel ports only. Also, support for SSDs in RAID-0 is still incomplete and they will not work properly (no TRIM support) on anything based on Intel 6 series chipsets or earlier. If you have a 7 series chipset (excluding x79) with the latest Intel RST drivers then they will work better.

I have my two OCZ Agility 3 SSD's (RAID-0) attached to the Marvel Controller because it supports SATA 6Gbps. That was really the only reason I put them there. Then I have two HDD's (RAID-1) attached to the JMicron Controller.

Do you really think I'm better moving both of my RAID volumes to the Intel Controller? Or at least move my SSD's?

From Asus' Website:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1366/Rampage_III_Formula/#specifications

Intel® ICH10R controller :
6 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), gray
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10

JMicron® JMB363 controller :
1 x eSATA 3Gb/s port(s), red
1 x Power eSATA 3Gb/s port(s), green

Marvell® PCIe 9128 controller : *1
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), red

I have a question on the Marvell Controller, too.

I want to install Windows 8 on the Marvell Raid0, because at my System this was the faster Controller.

But Windows 8 didn´t find Drivers, at the Setup, so i can´t install it on my Raid.
Any suggestions out there? I think The Marvell-Driver isn´t Windows 8 ready.
But switching to the Intel Controller is the same.

I want to have a Raid running!!!

Thanks

It's generally inadvisable to install an OS on an add in storage controller. I always recommend installing it on the Intel/AMD chipset ports as OSes have solid native support for these. What motherboard do you have?

@pinhedd.

Same problem on my PC!!!
I have a GigaByte P55A-UD3 Motherboard. This is EOL and I think there is no support in Drivers, but I had a very fast Raid on Win7 and I want to have one on Win8 Pro.

The Problem is the Same, no drivers were found at the Windows8 Setup.
No Marvell and no Intel Raid possible. Only these 2 HDD´s are shown.
I´m thinking of starting with WinXP and install the Raid, and then Install Win8. But I think without newer drivers it won´t work.

Upgrading from NT5.x (Windows 2000, XP, XP x64) to NT6.x (Vista, 7,8) is a very bad idea. Lots of things will go wrong.

The P55 boards aren't EOL yet. Windows 8 includes the native Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers which should work beautifully with 3/4/5/6/7 series motherboards. Other devices may lack Windows 8 drivers, but not the chipset. As long as you make sure to use the Intel storage ports (you should have 6 SATA-II ports connected to the Intel storage controller) rather than the Marvell ports you should be okay. The marvell SATA-III controller is connected to the PCH via a single PCIe 2.0 lane, which means that it will actually be slower than the native PCH ports despite having SATA-III interface speeds. Add-in SATA-III controllers are a complete joke, just use the native SATA-II ports as only top grade SSDs and external RAID enclosures can come close to saturating a SATA-II link.

Okay Thanks.
I have connected the 2 HDD´s to the Intel Ports, because the Marvell didn´t work. I have all the drivers on a usb stick. I have installed many of these but I don´t know where I can configure the RAID ??? On the Setup screen Only these 2 HDD´s are displayed. Can I use the "F6 Button" for installing third party Raid with Windows 8?
I don´t think so, but where to configure the RAID?

You should not need to provide any Intel drivers when installing Windows 7 or Windows 8. If you want to assemble a RAID on an Intel controller, you will have to enable firmware assisted RAID mode in the system settings. This is usually under "controller mode" or something like that, usual settings will be "Disabled/IDE/AHCI/RAID". RAID also enables AHCI.

@pinhedd

Your were right!!! Thanks much!! I have disabled the marvell controller, and enabled the Intel controller setup. After BIOS there is a short picture of the RAID controller where I had to press ctrl and l . I have configured my RAID and then booted new and installed Windows 8

Thumbs up!! Thank you!!!

Glad it worked. You're welcome!
