Hi everyone,

I have been running RAID 1 (mirror) with a Marvell 91xx SATA 6G RAID Controller on my Gigabyte board (GA-Z97X-UD5H) without issue for over a year. Just a couple months ago I noticed an issue where my mouse will randomly halt and the "new device" sound will be triggered. My raid controller will show up in the notification area as something I'm allowed to eject. The drives I have in RAID 1 are WD10EZEX (i.e. not SSD)

This didn't bother me at first but it seems to be happening more often (2-3 times/hour) and it is annoying to have to stop and wait a couple seconds every time this happens, especially during game playing. I have been trying to figure out why this just started happening recently and how to fix it.

I tried just ejecting it to see it it would stop it but that does not work. I tried unchecking "Enable safely remove disk" from the Policies in Properties of the controller after going to Device Manager as well but that only prevented it from showing up in the notification area. I tried to update the driver but I have the most recent one (9/5/2013; 1.2.0.1039).

Anyone have ideas on what could be causing this?

Solution
1) You have the newer controller driver for Marvell sata ports.
2) You have problem on the RAID setup. The problem maybe from the HDD, which has problem, check that HDD's S.M.A.R.T. by the software, like CrystalDiskInfo http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html
You should back the raid up now if you still can use that, either buy other HDD to replace the raid or move the raid into the intel sata ports after backup. Otherwise you may just lost all the data in it if you can't use it anymore.
