Hello Everyone, I just got an awesome deal on an SSD off newegg that came with a free copy of Mass Effect 3. ( The game did help sway my decision) I haven't really heard much about ME3 up until the package came. All I really knew was that it's one of the top games of the year. What I didn't know was that it was very story orientated that directly carried on from the past two games, such as the decisions you've made in the past games would effect the gameplay in this game. So what I want to know is if its worth even opening this sucker up and giving it a shot or just selling it on Amazon.com and maybe picking up crysis 2 instead.

It's a good game. It helps to understand a little better the story if you played the previous games, but you can still enjoy it without playing them.

If you like the game, I suggest that you buy 1 & 2.
I saw them in the bargain bin for 9,95€ each so it's a really good price.
Keep the game and buy the first two for $15-$20 each on steam. Play them through in order if you want the full experience. That's what I'm doing - currently playing through the first game and having a blast.

Mass Effect 1 will probably take you 20 - 40 hours depending on how many side missions and exploration you decide to do. That excludes the two DLCs (Bring Down The sky, and Pinnacle Station) which combined probably adds another 8 - 12 hours.

Mass Effect 2, again probably 20 - 40 hours depending on how many side missions you decide to do. That excludes 7 DLCs which adds more missions which probably will add another 12 - 18 hours.

Some DLCs are free while others generally range between $2 - $8 I think. You'll need to purchase "BioWare Points" that's used to buy the DLCs.

I haven't bought Mass Effect 3 yet, I'll do so when more DLCs are released. However, I will tell you that there has been some controversy regarding the From Ashes ($10) DLC that was released on the 1st day.

I'm not going to spoil anything, but apparently the content of From Ashes was actually coded into Mass Effect 3 and sometime prior to the release of the game, that content has basically been ripped out and is now being sold for $10 worth of BioWare Points. At least that's what some hackers have reported. From Ashes is not necessary to complete the game, but from a story point of view for the entire Mass Effect franchise the content is very significant.

Hey just wanted to let you know I took your advice after playing a few hours of ME3, I went ahead and bought 1 & 2 Gamefly has them on sale today for digital download $6 each.
