So the masterair maker 8 is a bohemoth of an air cooler. It looks awesome and it would keep my cpu cool while avoiding water cooling! But!... it's huge! 170mm I believe. I have the Asus H170 mother board. My Ram seems like it's going to be in the way of the cooler. Anyone know for a fact if the cooler would fit or not?

All the 11xx sockets are interchangeable as far as coolers go. The Cryorig was released prior to 1151 which is why the specs don't show it, but many people use it on them. The Cryorig and EVO are quite similar, but the H7 has different dimensions which make it better for clearing tall RAM and narrower cases. The difference in cooling is probably due to fin spacing, fan, etc.
The Cryorig H7 is a fantastic air cooler and much cheaper. It's designed for case and RAM clearance. You could use the difference in price for an SSD or a better graphics card. If using one of the locked processors, they will come with a cooler which is fine for almost all applications.
