Match new router id to existing extender

My current WiFi extender, Netgear, ID does now not match the new router id , ie VM******. By match I means the first 8 chars of the extender id. How do I change the extender id. My router has a wps button

I have now done a factory reset on the extender and paired it with the router by wps. They now see each other but when I go to sign in using mywifiext.com it come up with { "reset" : "1"}
