I need some help with ram... I bought Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PV316G160C9KBL

and want to buy some more but it appears to be out of stock. Will the other Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PV316G160C9KB match the KBL memory?

You really have to try it, unless you can find someone with the same set up.

In general the faster CAS RAM will just down clock the slow RAMs CAS.
You are probably pretty safe with the same brand

BUT Dual channel RAM even if it is exactly the same, is match for performance by the manufacturer, and packaged in pairs, or 4s.

If the match is not good enough, some motherboards will revert to single channel, but otherwise work fine.

At worst it will cause memory errors, but I think the chances are low for that, with the memory you are talking about.
