They are already charging monthly fees so why are they pricing the game at
$70Cdn + tax retail?
That sure seems like price gouging to me. If the game is good enough, they
will make their investment
back quickly on the monthly subscribers. Of course I think Blizzard is
price gouging for WOW monthly
rates too. Good game or not, I'm not interested in padding their fat bank
accounts any further.

That's why I don't pay MMO games. I don't have the time to get my
money's worth every month. I prefer to spend some of my time and money
on other hobbies and pastimes.

But some people like spending their cash and time on these games. I
say, let them - it's their decision.

If there's enough of them, then the game and it's genre will flourish.
If there isn't enough of them, then the genre wil change to attract
more players. That will probably include lowering the financial cost.

A final random thought:
Should the game system or genre change to meet the
demands/needs/expectations of the public? Or should the public change
so that the genre is kept alive and healthy?

That is why I am waiting for Guild Wars, all the fun parts (for me) of
an MMORPG but with no monthly cost and a good solo mode.

I played the beta... I don't think it's going to be that great, personally.
The game has potential but it just felt flat to me for some reason.
