Sometimes, we can find info about a video card that will be coming from the latest driver of the today's video card. NVIDIA announced its workstation based Quadro2 chipset on July 25, 2000, while we had reported the method of turning a GeForce2 into a Quadro2 on July 23, 2000 according to info of Quadro2 found in the latest Detonator driver at the time.
There have been surmises around the net whether there will be a G800 video card from Matrox for a long times. Recently, Matrox has released its latest Windows NT 4.0 display drive for Matrox Millennium G400/G450 (released: March 23, 2001, version: 4.77.027). The most interesting point is that a few descriptive words concerning Matrox Millennium G800 can be found when a Mga64.sys file of the driver is opened by a HEX editor e.g. UltraEdit32. The screenshot below shows the case. Is this a hint of G800 is coming?
