Hello, I'm kind of having a hard time choosing between 2 monitor types matte or glossy, I've read on some forums that matte is better and others say glossy its better, I just want to know which one has better picture quality for gaming and video editing, putting aside all the reflection concerns about the glossy screens

Solution
Usually I prefer a light anti-glare(ag) coating like what is on the Dell U2715 or U2717D. The lighter coatings kill the reflection and don't impact the picture quality very much. Many of your high end IPS panels today use a coating like this. The glossy screens with no coating do have the best picture quality given you are not using it in a place where the glare reduces that perceived quality.
If you are doing color work and spending $1000+ on a monitor than a glossy screen i.e. no coating with a hood to stop the reflections is the way to go. Most people would like a very light AG coating on there monitor for every day reading of text and gaming.

Glossy is better for picture quality but has no anti reflection coat where as matte has. Matte has reduced quality but the anti reflection. The coating doesnt hurt much but it makes it little grainy.
